Are you wondering how to support your loved one? Maybe they are just entering treatment or continuing to struggle with substances and other issues, or maybe they do not want to get help. Are you just not sure what to do and you feel like you have tried everything? These 4 consecutive 90-minute workshops have been developed to specifically support you and provide you with helpful skills to navigate answering the most common questions we hear: How do I say that it? What is my role? What do I do if ...? What about me? How do I set boundaries or what boundaries do I set? It also provides skills to increase your own wellbeing. We believe that families and friends are a vital part of this process, and we want to make sure you have the information and support needed to navigate this journey!
Healthy Relationship Workshop series supports
parents, spouses, siblings (adult), friends and any family member to learn how
to better support their loved one. We have sessions on Wednesday evening that are geared
specifically to parents of adolescents and young adults (whether they are in
treatment or not). Our other session supports a wider audience: parents of adult children, spouses, adult siblings, friends or other family members. Although
the skills and topics are similar, if you are a parent we recommend that you
select the "For parents of adolescents and young adults"
option as you will get to connect with other parents and the examples are geared
towards parents of this age group.
Workshop Topics
Communication: This first workshop will provide evidence-based effective communication skills that will increase your confidence in sharing your concerns with your loved one and family.
Understanding behaviors and boundaries: This workshop provides evidence-based skills to help you clarify why behaviors happen, increase your ability to communicate clearly to your family/loved one.
Understanding our role: This workshop provides evidence-based skills that support you in knowing how to set boundaries by reinforce healthy behavior or allow for natural consequences to encourage change.
Problem solving and selfcare: This workshop provides evidence-based problem-solving skills to address issues with your loved one on this journey. It will guide you in setting personal self-care goals.
These group workshops benefit participants by gaining proven skills to support healthier choices, improved relationships, and better recovery outcomes. Learning skills and preparing for situations before they occur helps family members feel empowered to respond versus react.
